Matt Hancock’s third-placed finish in I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! prompts The Mirror to feature a photograph of the House of Commons, alongside the headline: “Now get him out of here”. The tabloid says there are calls for the controversial politician to quit politics and The Sun hints he plans to do just that, following “secret talks” to get him into showbiz.
Metro leads on protests and clashes in China over the country’s strict zero-Covid policies, describing them as the “Great Brawl of China”. The Financial Times says the continuing unrest poses one of the most “overt” challenges to the ruling Chinese Communist party’s authority in decades and The Telegraph says Xi is facing “unprecedented disobedience”.
“Army to the rescue”, says The Times, as it claims that military personnel would drive ambulances and fill frontline roles in hospitals under plans to cope with strikes. Health and defence officials are drawing up plans for the government to help keep the NHS functioning, says the paper.
